happens when you are left in the cold? The boiler has failed!
the pilot light will not light, the pump stops or the controls
have blown a fuse.
Contractors
will charge a fortune, they will not have the parts on board
and worse they will send a plumber who can not fix it and
then you will have to wait until their technician is available.

What
is a Conventional Boiler?
With
this type of system hot water cannot be provided on demand
but must be stored, usually in a copper cylinder (usually
located in an airing cupboard) and a cold water tank above
it (usually in the attic) as well as a smaller central heating
header tank (also usually in the attic).
As
the water is pre-heated and stored, it can be used by more
than one tap at a time without significant loss of flow.
The Conventional system is particularly suited to the larger
property with more than one bathroom or where mains water
pressure is too low for an instantaneous appliance such
as a combination boiler.
There
are various ways in which conventional systems can be improved.
-
Boiler renewal. Old boilers can be renewed for improved
performance, safety and economy.
-
Powerflushing to remove accumulated sludge coupled with
installation of pressurisation kit (the header tank is
removed) for improved filling and circulation.
-
Upgrade to pre-lagged, high efficiency conventional cylinder
for faster heat up and economy.
-
Upgrade to unvented hot water. The large cold tank and
cylinder are removed and a special cylinder installed.
-
Change to continuous hot water. All 3 tanks are removed
and a combination boiler replaces the existing conventional
boiler.
-
Controls upgrade for separate time and temperature control
of central heating and hot water for improved economy
and comfort control.
What
is a Combination Boiler?
A
combination (or combi boiler) is a compact and highly efficient
unit giving all the heating and hot water you need, with
significant savings on running and installation costs.
Unlike
a conventional heating and hot water system,a combination
boiler system does not store hot water. It heats water directly
from the cold mains - as you use it. There's no hot water
cylinder, no tank in the loft (and so less risk of freezing
and flooding), and none of the connecting pipework. So you
not only save space, but also considerably reduce hot water
costs- which can account for up to 60% of a domestic fuel
bill.
A
combination boiler also supplies hot water at mains pressure,
giving you exhilarating power showering without the need
for a pump. And as, on average, a shower uses considerably
less water than a typical bath, the savings on hot water
costs and water consumption can be significant.
